What is Arise Work From Home?

Arise Work From Home website image
Arise Work From Home Site

Formerly known as Willow CSN, it was founded in 1989 in Canada by Richard Cherry. Then in 2005, a private investment firm, Accretive Technology Partners purchased Willow CSN. They renamed it Arise Virtual Solutions

The company is now located in Florida.

Arise is now an American-owned company with an online network connecting large brand-name companies with freelancers and people who want to work from home (‘Service Partners’).

In a nutshell, these brand-name companies are only interested in sourcing out their customer service needs to people looking for additional income.

What’s important to understand is that Arise does not offer you a job, instead, they offer you a business opportunity. They work as a go-between relationship between the companies, their clients and Service Partners (you) using virtual call centres.

Currently, these virtual call centres are only located in the USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom.

During your registration, you must own an incorporated business entity or create one. They will also let you join an existing business so you can provide customer services to Arise’s clients.

As you can see, this is not an offer of employment. It is an opportunity to enter into a business-to-business relationship with Arise.

How Does Arise Work From Home Work?

If you’re looking for the shiny red button/get-rich-fast scheme, you won’t find it here. You can’t just register and boom get to work from the get-go.

There are some requirements you need to meet:

First, you must be at least 18 years of age or older. According to Arise, being a Service Partner allows you to be in control of your own work hours while doing this in the comfort of your own home. You must live in the US, Canada, or the UK.

Here are the steps:

Step 1: Create Your Profile

  • Fill out their form with your basic information.
  • Determine Your Independent Contractor Type

During the registration process, you will need to choose your role/work type. This is important! Here’s the image.

Determine Your Contractor Type

Next, once you select your client, you will also be given two assessments:

  • A voice assessment
  • A program assessment.

After you pass both of them, your next step is to order a background check of yourself (at your cost) proving you have a clean history.

Step 2: Sign the Document

This part is important. You must sign their non-disclosure agreement if you want privy to Arise’s customers’ opportunities.

Step 3: Set Up Your LLC (your costs) and Open a Business Account

For your basic home business, you are expected to set up your own LLC (Limited Liability Company) (at your expense) and open a business bank account.

Of course, failure to do this means having no access to Arise’s database and so you don’t want to miss this step.

Step 4: Set Up Your Home Office

This part will be a little pricey if you don’t have the following equipment:

Arise Work From Home Equipment Purchase Suggestions
Suggestions of Technical Equipment to Purchase to Get Set Up With Arise
  • Computer
  • Connected mouse (cannot be wireless and cannot use a wireless keyboard)
  • High-speed internet
  • USB port
  • SAN disk (3.0 GB)
  • Dial pad to talk over the phone
  • Dedicated phone line
  • Headset with microphone, the end has to have a USB to plug into your computer

To find out more information, here is Arise’s System and Equipment Policy pdf.

Please don’t go looking for state-of-the-art equipment. Arise just wants you to have everything technically correct, after all, your job is to provide customer service. You don’t want to be hung up with technical errors during conversations with your client’s customers who need help, do you?

Step 5: Pass Your Certification Course

These are certification course(s) you select and provided by the client of your choosing. Your cost is anywhere from $25 to $249 USD per course. Clients require you to take the courses because the training involves their systems and requirements. The course can take 2 to 5 days depending on clients’ requirements.

You should be aware though that some of these courses may take a month to complete and you do not get paid for training time.

You will also be assessed on the following:

  • Your client’s systems and requirements
  • Your client’s call types
  • Your performance metrics

Step 6: Get Rolling On Your Business

At this stage, you are ready to sign your Statement of Work (SOW) for each of your clients. This is a contract that can last up to 3 months which basically states you are accepting the client’s expectations.

Your primary goal is to provide quality service for your Arise clients’ customers.

As a Service Partner, you will be connected with Arise’s database of global companies requiring outside independent workers to look after their clients’ support and customer service needs. Take a look at the image below…

What is Arise Work From Home Jobs?

Currently, you have a choice of 10 home job categories:

  • Personal Taxes
  • Sporting Goods
  • Home Improvement
  • Media and Entertainment
  • Cruise Lines
  • Heating, Cooling, and Water Heater Solutions
  • Luxury Retailer
  • Roadside Assistance
  • Cable Communications
  • Travel Timeshare and Support

You can connect with the ones that work for you based on your skills and schedule.

What I like about Arise Work From Home is the jobs are all legit. There are many scam companies around but Arise is not.

Arise has business relationships with Carnival Cruise Ships (exciting right?), Dick’s Sporting Goods (one of the largest sporting suppliers), and Intuit Turbotax and many more.

Next, let’s look at your investments…

How Much Does It Cost To Get Started With Arise?

Just my opinion, but I don’t find Arise Work From Home platform very friendly for beginners.

Why? Before they even open the money doors for you, you are going to have to dish out some serious investments. If you are cash-limited, chances are you may not want to pursue this.

Let me give you an idea of what your cost projections are. The numbers come directly from Arise Work From Home’s site:

Arise Work From Home Total Estimate Cost
This is Arise’s Estimated Startup Cost

Let’s not forget your recurring monthly costs… oh and your cost to order a background check of yourself.

Arise Work From Home Estimated Monthly Costs

As you can see, you must also set up your own LLC (Limited Liability Company) at your expense and open a business bank account.

Another consideration is if you wanted to grow your home business, and hire more than one person your cost is doubled for each person you hire.

It is important to realize that before you venture off into this type of home business opportunity, I suggest setting up a cash flow/budget for your current and future business plans.

Rather costly, don’t you think?

Is Arise Work From Home a Scam?

I’m sure you already know there are a lot of scammy work-from-home opportunities and that you need to be very aware of the signs.

I did a lot of research to see if Arise Work From Home is a scam. The best way to determine that is to read what the Service Partners have been saying so it’s important to read all about that in my next section.

I will say, for now, Arise (formerly Willow CSN)is a legitimate work-from-home business opportunity and they have been around since 1989. They are not a fly-by-night company.

On the other hand, there are some complaints you should be aware of. In fact, there are a lot of mixed emotions from some Service Partners.

The impressive part is they have successful working relationships with large corporations who want trained Service Providers to look after their clients’ needs.

What Service Partners Are Saying – Arise Work From Home Reviews

If you’re serious about becoming a Service Partner for Arise’s clients, this section is worth reading. I am only going to focus on the negatives because there are a lot of complaints.

Most are enjoying their so-called ‘flexible’ hours and being able to work remotely but despise the low pay, no raises, and the fact they have to pay for Arise clients’ training which sometimes takes up to a month.

The thorny part is where Arise Work From Home charges you monthly fees which are taken off your paycheque.

There is clear evidence some Service Partners feel they are highly expendable because of competition from many other Service Providers due to the COVID pandemic. Millions of people are looking on the internet for ways to earn income online.

Here is what some Service Partners are saying:

BBB

BBB rating on Arise Work From Home

BBB only gives Arise Work From Home 1.93 stars out of 5 and yet they are accredited with an A+ rating.

This makes little sense right?

The reason for this is apparently, ‘BBB ratings represent the BBB’s opinion of how the business is likely to interact with its customers.’ This is their main rating factor so please ignore the ‘A+’ rating. Instead, focus on what you see below…

From what I can see from BBB, Service Partners’ issues seemed to be looked after by Arise in 2020 but in 2021 Arise has not responded to any of the complaints from the date of my review publication.

  • 113 complaints closed in last 3 years
  • 34 complaints closed in last 12 months
BBB Negative Testimonial Poor Support
BBB Arise Negative Testimonial - Poor Support System
BBB Arise Negative Testimonial - Double Charge on Certification Course
BBB Arise Negative Testimonial - Wage Issue Descrepancy

These are just some of the complaints in 2021, only 1 happy client reported in 2021 in BBB, the rest are all negative.

Indeed

Their overall rating is 3.6 out of 5 stars from 383 reviews matching my search criteria…

Can You Make Money From Home With Arise?

There is no doubt in my mind that you can earn income. However, in my opinion, which comes from my researches and comments from Service Partners, that this is more about giving you an opportunity to earn additional income as a part-time job.

Truthfully, the hourly wage of $8 an hour, even $18 an hour is not much these days. Don’t forget you have overhead costs too like your training and monthly expenses.

Who is Arise Work From Home For?

Here’s my honest opinion. Anyone can do this at home BUT I recommend this for people who have an interest or already have customer service skills.

From what I have seen, if you enjoy helping people solve their needs and have good communication skills, this may be for you. Other than that, you don’t need to have a degree.

Arise Work From Home would be good for:

  • Stay-at-home parent
  • Unemployed people
  • People looking for extra income
  • Anyone interested in having their own online home business
  • Retired people

There are some conditions you should be aware of, for instance:

  • You must reside in either Canada, the USA, or the UK
  • You must be able to pay for training, other fees and technical equipment

Just because you incorporated your own company doesn’t necessarily mean you are your own boss with Arise Work From Home. You might think you can work your own hours and their site will tell you that, however, that’s not true, the company will set up a work schedule for you.

The PROS – What I Like

Established Company

Arise Work From Home has been around since 1989.

Flexibility to Choose Your Clients

You are not stuck with one client. To name a few, Intuit Turbo Tax, Carnival Cruises, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Comcast, Apple, Disney, AT & T, Airbnb and more.

Tons of Training

Arise has a lot of clients training, all of course, are at your cost.

Provide Plenty of Work

There really is no shortage of work but it all depends on how well you perform and if the client likes you.

Hire People to Work For You

You can hire people but they have to go through the same registration process you did to get accepted.

The Cons – The Uglies

No Free Trial and No Free Training

For the amount of money you invest, it would be nice if Arise Work From Home offers a free trial and free training. Don’t you think? This would help you save the investment if you don’t like it. You should be able to try it out before you spend the money.

Monthly Fee

To use Arise’s database you pay a recurring fee (currently, $39.50 USD) which is deducted from each paycheque.

Limited Opportunity

Your opportunity is ONLY available in Canada, the USA, and the UK. It’s much better to have other countries have access to the platform, which could eliminate the tight competition among the Service Partners.

Lengthy Time Process to Get Started

According to the reviews I’ve read, getting started can take as long as a month because of training overload. If you are looking for a faster start, Arise is not the place to be. Plus you do not get paid for training.

Technology and Training Investment

Your investment can be as much as $1000 + to meet Arise’s technical requirements and you also pay for each client’s training.

Low Pay

From the reviews I’ve read, many Service Partners are not happy with the pay rate in addition to no pay raises. Rates start anywhere from $8+ to around $18 an hour.

You Are Not Entirely Your Own Boss

Arise’s site will tell you that you have the flexibility to work your own hours. This is not the case, it appears the company dictates your work schedule. You don’t have the freedom you want.

Competitive to Get The Best Jobs

You are expendable, especially because of the COVID pandemic. Millions and millions of people are unemployed. The employed ones that are working at home realize the benefits and are now looking for other ways of earning income on the internet.

Apparently, there are over 10,000 Arise Service Partners all working from home (Canada, the US, and the UK).

This means, if you don’t perform well or the client doesn’t like you, it’s easy for another Service Partner to take over.

Other Service Partner complaints:

  • Tech support is hard to access
  • You are disposable, i.e., you can quickly lose your job (fired)

Arise Work From Home Review – My Conclusion

If you are good at talking and enjoy helping people or you are looking for extra income then Arise Work From Home may be worth looking into.

However, if you don’t have the investment, and/or if you want to really be your own boss and work your own hours, Arise may not be your best option.

Don’t get me wrong, Arise is not a scam, they are a legitimate business opportunity.

It’s my duty to honestly tell you that Arise’s business opportunity is NOT for everyone. If you absolutely want this, then go for it!

Ask yourself this question, can you handle complaints? Can you give good explanations of how something works or why this or that? Granted you will be given lots of clients training. Arise’s business opportunity is about providing customer service for their clients and doing it from home.

How We Make Money From Home

If Arise is not your cup of tea, and you still want to find another way of making money online, let me recommend affiliate marketing. This is what I have been doing since the winter of 2015. I fired my boss and set my own hours working from home or when I’m on holiday.

By now you probably already know that I am an affiliate marketer and I took my training from Wealthy Affiliate’s affiliate training platform. Everything you see here on my website is from their training.

There are plenty of other business opportunities to make money online from home but my #1 recommendation will always be affiliate marketing. Here are some reasons why:

  • No inventory
  • Make money while you sleep
  • Promote brand-name products
  • Be your own boss

Get Going With Your FREE STARTER Test Drive in Wealthy Affiliate NOW!

See for yourself at ZERO risk. No credit card is requested. If you enjoy what you see in the training, excellent, I’ll be there for you as your personal mentor and support coach. No worries if it’s not for you. You can walk away risk-free.
