Does Juice Plus Work? (A Business Opportunity Gone Wrong?)

Does Juice Plus+ really work? Some say yes, others say they don’t feel any different. BUT it’s a business opportunity gone wrong and you need to know this.

Yup, another health and wellness niche about to undergo a review.

Juice Plus+ products are rather unique and I can see why many people try the products and venture on into the business.

In this review, I’ll tell you what Juice Plus+ is, how it works, whether you can make money selling their products, their compensation plan, pros and cons and more.

First, let me just say I am not in any way affiliated with Juice Plus+. I’ve done researches on hundreds of money-making products and have written reviews on them.

I also commend you for doing your own researching here because it’s the only way to keep yourself from being scammed.

Ok, let’s begin…

What Is Juice Plus+?

Juice Plus+ has a bit of an interesting background.

It’s actually a brand name for a line of dietary supplements and uses the MLM (Multi-Level Marketing) business model with Independent Representatives and customers throughout Europe, Canada, Asia, and Australia. Currently, they have 10 offices worldwide.

Juice Plus+ market their supplements as “the next best thing to fruits and vegetables.”  The idea behind it is to give you healthier food nutrition that will fill in the gaps in what you eat to what you should actually be eating.

Before we continue, let me first clarify that Juice Plus is NOT AN MLM company on its own.

Why Juice Plus is NOT an MLM Company

What It Really Is…

You might think Juice Plus+ is a company but it really is not.

There’s a lot to their background so I’ll tell you what you only need to know about them…

• Juice Plus, located in Collierville, Tennessee, was founded in 1993 by Albert J. Martin who at that time was a school teacher turned entrepreneur.
• In 1970 he founded National Safety Associates (NSA) and sold home protection equipment and eventually got into water filtration products.
• It was in 1986 when he introduced MLM into NSA promoting the water and air filtration products.

Juice Plus is Albert’s first nutritional line of products with an MLM business opportunity under the NSA company. This is why Juice Plus+ is not an MLM company on its own.

The products are made up of concentrated fruits and vegetable juices enriched with nutrients and vitamins manufactured by a company called Natural Alternatives International (NAI) located in San Marcos, California.

NSA distributes these products under their brand name of Juice Plus+ using MLM practices.

Of course, typical of MLM, there are 2 things Juice Plus+ does:

1. They sell you their dietary supplements.
2. They offer you their business opportunity.

Inside Juice Plus+ – The Products

You might have already noticed there are a lot of health and wellness MLM companies. They have similar nutritional supplements yet offer something different in them.

Juice Plus+ products is quite unique because it has concentrated natural farmed vegetables and fruit juice powder and oils in their supplements.

You won’t even have trouble swallowing these supplements because they come in yummy chewables or in small capsules.

But let me tell you the real reason why they’re so unique…

• Their fruits and vegetables are juiced
• Carbs have been removed from the juice
• They added other nutrients and vitamins
• The juice is “dehydrated” and put into capsules and that’s why it’s so chewable.

Next,  let’s look at Juice Plus+ main products. There are 4 brand blends:

1) Fruit Blend (dehydrated fruit juice powder capsules and chewable) – This blend has apples, cranberries, oranges, mangos, Acerola Cherries, pineapples, prunes, dates, beets, and lemon peels.

2) Berry Blend (dehydrated berries and fruit juice powder in capsules and chewable) – This blend has Concord Grapes, blueberries, cranberries, blackberries, black currants, Bilberries, raspberries, pomegranates, elderberries, artichokes, and Cocoa.

3) Vegetable Blend (dehydrated vegetable juice powder in capsules and chewable) – This blend has broccoli, parsley, tomatoes, carrots, garlic, beets, spinach, cabbage, kale, Rice Bran, and lemon peels.

4) Omega Blend (3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 plant oils in capsules) – This blend is made up of seed oils from pomegranates, raspberries,  Algal, tomatoes,  Safflower, and Sea Buckthorn Berries.

Other additional Juice Plus+ products are:

Lift – These are gluten-free energy drinks containing natural caffeine, B vitamins, and other ingredients like Yerba Mate, a healthy stimulant.

Complete – These are a variety of healthy diet products for your busy life suitable for breakfast, lunch, and snacks.

Complete is made up of the following:

• Shakes, vanilla and chocolate (no artificial flavouring, preservatives, colouring) and if you’re in a rush, you’ll enjoy their individual packets
• Bars with Omega 3 and dietary fibre
• Vegetable Soup powder
• Booster Supplements with natural Green tea, oat oil, and Glucomannan (weight loss)
• Recipes for shakes, meals for kids, BBQs, summer dishes, breakfast, etc. The main ingredients are of course Juice Plus+ products.

Making Money With Juice Plus+ – The Business Opportunity

Unfortunately, Juice Plus+ is typical of the MLM business model. For instance, there are 3 ways you’ll be making money here:

1. You purchase Juice Plus+ products at wholesale prices and sell them at retail prices. The difference earned is your retail commissions.
2. Recruit people into your downline and once they purchase Juice Plus+ products, you earn incentives and bonuses.
3. Because each product is assigned points referred to as PVC (Personal Volume Credits) and based on your ranking level you can earn a certain percentage of commissions on each product.

Juice Plus+ will say that to make money, you only need to “Embrace, Share, Inspire”… but before you can actually make money, you need to know this…

How to Get Started As a Juice Plus+ Representative

The first thing you need to do is have a sponsor and you’ll be encouraged to purchase products and try them out because that’s part of the “Embrace”. You’re in for a surprise because your first order is for a 4 month supply of products.

There are 3 steps to do this.

1) You pay a reasonable $50 (one-time fee) for the Application which you fill out and submit to your sponsor. Training will come from your sponsor and Juice Plus+ support team.

2) Once you’re done with your training, you’ll want to make a list of people like your family and friends so you can invite them over and show them your Juice Plus+ products you purchased.

3) Your mission is to get people to buy products and recruit them to your downline. 

This means spreading the good news of your personal experiences of the products and face to face selling. This is how you “Share” Juice Plus+.

Juice Plus+ Compensation Plan

Juice Plus+’s compensation plan is called ‘Virtual Franchise’ and it’s how you’ll “Inspire” your interested parties.  It’s really not a franchise rather it’s your typical MLM compensation plan.

Start by recruiting 3 people to your downline and they, in turn, need to recruit 3 people to their downline and so on.

They don’t have anything unique like what ARIIX’s compensation plan has which is another health and wellness MLM niche. 

Juice Plus+’s plan calls for 7 ranking levels:

• Distributor 
• Direct Distributor 
• Virtual Franchisee
• Sales Coordinator
• Senior Coordinator
• Qualifying National Marketing Director
• National Marketing Director

The lowest rank is the Distributor and the top rank is National Marketing Director.

If you’re interested in selling retail products and satisfied with just earning retail commissions, then you want to be a Distributor.

BUT I have a feeling you’re here to make more…

Juice Plus+ has 3 commissions, 6%, 14%, and 22% and the way you earn that is thru product points referred to as Purchase Volume Credit (PVC). Each product has a value of points. You will want to earn these valuable points because that’s how you rank higher and earn substantially more.

Your commissions and bonuses are dependent on your product points so this means 2 things. This means selling Juice Plus+ products or purchasing them for your own consumption.

The thing is you really can’t make enough money without recruiting people to your downline. Your recruits will purchase products and they, in turn, bring other people to their downline who also purchase products and the process starts again. This is how you earn more product points.

As you can see, this compensation plan is very typical to MLM.

The Big Question… Can You Make Money With Juice Plus+?

To answer this question, let’s take a look at Juice Plus+’s 2017 summary of their U.S. annual average earnings

While these numbers are just for the U.S., I’d say the chances are pretty good that the results are going to be similar in other countries.

You can see that having the highest rank of the National Marketing Director is where you want to be. They earned well over $90,000 in a year but the percentage of the members who made it to that rank is very small, only 1.2 %.

The majority of the members 98.8% made a very small percentage of commissions and bonuses and their average earnings are less than a full-time minimum wage.  They are losing money and time invested.

In my opinion, you’re better to get a regular paying job.

It’s not easy sharing and trying to recruit people to your downline with Juice Plus+ especially in the health and wellness MLM niche industry due to high competition. Your marketing method is mainly through your customized website which you can select from their templates. Your product earnings here are accumulated.

You’ll get training from Juice Plus+ on how to market on social media but it’s not that easy attracting people to your products because of all the health and wellness ads already on display. It’ll be important to find other ways to get traffic to your website. 

The truth is MLM is really designed for you to not make a lot of money. You’re a salesperson making very little commissions who works hard and the only ones who win are the owners.

That’s how these MLM compensation plans work and Juice Plus+ is no different.

Are Juice Plus+ Products Really Good For Your Health?

Does it really work?

I’ll be honest I don’t use Juice Plus+ products because I’ve been working out at a Bootcamp for over 3 years and eat nourishing foods.

However, I don’t want you to think I’m biased so I did my research.

This is an article written by Jennifer House, a Registered Dietitian and worthwhile reading…  

Granted Juice Plus+ has done over 30 research studies on how their products are beneficial for you. There is no doubt you will have plenty of their vitamins and minerals when consuming their supplements.

But here is what Healthline has to say…CLICK HERE to read it.  

Trustpilot also has some revealing information.

Negative comments on products:

Overly positive testimonials should be taken with a grain of salt. 

Surprisingly, even Wikipedia has something to say in regards to Juice Plus+ saying “There is no good evidence that Juice Plus offers health benefits. Many marketing claims made about Juice Plus products are false or misleading.”

It also seems Juice Plus+’s service is worse than their products:

Normally I would be recommending that you try Juice Plus+ products for yourself but I’m quite concerned about their payment harassments.

What I Like About Juice Plus+

1.Massive Amounts of Research

Juice Plus+ has an impressive record of over 30 clinical researches conducted worldwide in universities and hospitals. Studies on heart health, dental health, immune system, healthy skin, obesity and more are conducted using the products. You can read their results.

2. In Business a Long Time

Juice Plus+ as you can see has been around over 25 years and with backing from National Safety Associates who’s been in business an impressive 49 years, they’re definitely not a scam. If they were, the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) would have shut them down a long time ago.

What I Don’t Like About Juice Plus+

1. Saturated Market

Juice Plus+ has a lot of competition. In the MLM industry, health and wellness is the most popular niche.

To name a few:

• Usana
• ARIIX
• Purium
• Yoli
• Herbalife
• Shaklee
• etc. 

2. Majority of Distributors Are Not Making Much

I already showed you how Juice Plus+’s distributors were not making much money, 98.8% are not making minimum wage.

Juice Plus’s compensation plan is designed for the owners’ benefit. You’ll do all the grunt work and all the sales work for them and in return, you’ll make very little unless you’re already a successful aggressive salesperson and LOVE face to face selling.

3. A Lot of Complaints

I already told you about SOME of the complaints on Juice Plus+’s products and services. 

You might have already heard of representatives including successful high ranking ones who left, if you haven’t, read this…

4. Recruit, Recruit, and Keep Recruiting

Juice Plus+ uses the typical MLM marketing strategy and that’s why it’s so important you keep recruiting people to your downline like crazy. You also need to encourage your downline to do the same. You earn when they sell products. It’s the only way you’re going to get massive amounts of points to rank higher and make a decent amount of money. 

5. Not a Franchise

Juice Plus+ does not offer you a franchise opportunity. They should not be calling it a “Franchise”. In my opinion, that’s a false misrepresentation. 

If you had a franchise with Juice Plus+, trust me, you would not have to recruit people into your downline. The building of your business would already have been done and you would have a much better opportunity to be successful from the very start. 

With MLM, which is what Juice Plus+’s business model is, all you have to do is look at the Compensation Plan diagram I showed you earlier.

6. A Very Sneaky Automatic Autoship

I absolutely detest this one and in fact, it’s the first time I’ve seen this done in MLM.

The first thing you need to know is you can’t just purchase 1 product with Juice Plus. You’re signing up for a monthly product subscription and your minimum commitment is 4 months.

For example, say you want the Fruit, Vegetable, and Berry Blend capsules, you are unable to purchase one package of the capsules. You’re going to have to pay $71.25 a month for 4 months. So you see why it’s a sneaky product autoship?

According to Juice Plus+, their reason is that it takes 4 months for you to feel the difference in your body. They want you to get the full experience. Ummm, hey we’re only talking about dehydrated vegetables and fruit powder with vitamins.

You can purchase similar products at your own local health and wellness store without commitments of any sort.

Who do you really think this automatic autoship of 4 months really benefits? I believe it’s the owners, do you agree? In all honesty, this is exactly how Juice Plus+ makes money from you. They’re going to get $71.25 x 4 months = $285 from you because of your agreement.

Earlier, you read the complaints on Juice Plus+’s services about how representatives and their customers were complaining about being overcharged. These people were not aware of the 4-month autoship because of unethical sponsors.

7. Lack of Transparency

When you go on Juice Plus+’s website, there is no current Income Disclosure Statement. They have 2017 but 2018 is nowhere to be found. Did they have another bad year like the results I showed you for 2017?

If you’re thinking of joining, don’t you want to see what kind of earnings you can potentially make? You have the right to see those numbers.

Is Juice Plus+ a Scam?

Juice Plus+ is legitimate and it’s not a scam, nor is it a pyramid scheme.

BUT I still don’t recommend them for several reasons. If you’re considering the products, think about the following…

• You sign up for a 4-month automatic auto-ship plan.
• There too many complaints from the representatives and customers.
• Lack of support.
• Lots of subjective opinions as to whether the juice powder works or not.

If you’re thinking about the business opportunity…

• It’s all about recruiting people.
• The success rate is poor.
• You’re strongly encouraged to approach your friends and family.

Can you make money with Juice Plus+? Yes but only if you’re an aggressive salesperson.
